Shopping in Sarajevo

While Sarajevo is certainly not a place you would go specifically to shop, that doesn't mean you shouldn't shop when you are there. There are definitely some very nice local products that you can find and take home with you. Below, the list includes some of these - places where you can find things to take home with you - and some practical shopping information in case you need something while you are away.

Shops

Baščaršija in general

If you want to find some traditional items, Baščaršija in general is the place to head to. You can simply stroll around and in and out of shops and browse at your pleasure. Here is a link to the Baščaršija association where you can see a list of makers by trade, including tinsmiths, glovemakers, slipper makers, and more.

Bazerdžan Concept Store

Bazerdžan is a concept store located in Baščaršija. They showcase things (jewellery, clothing, bags, bits and bobs, souvenirs, and more) made by contemporary artists, groups, designers, and manufacturers from Bosnia and Herzegovina Check out the Bazerdžan website here.

Concept Store Kutcha

Kutcha is another concept store with a similar vibe, based in the Skenderija part of town. The store also promotes artists and creators from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Check out the Kutcha Facebook page here.

Petrakija Wine & Life

If you want to buy local wines to take back home with you, this is the place to go to. The owners are very knowledgeable and can advice you on which wines to take based on your preferences. Check out the Petrajika website here.

Šamon Wine & Spirits

This is the next best place to go to find wine. That said, if you are looking to buy alcohol more broadly, this is definitely the place to go. I would guess they have the biggest selection in the whole country. Here is the Šamon Wine & Spirits location.

Butik Badem

For locally roasted nuts and different kinds of local sweets such as halva, honey, and Turkish delight, you can go to Butik Badem. Check out the Butik Badem Facebook page here.

Zlatar Sofić Jewellery

If you are looking for jewellery with traditional influences from the region, Zlatar Sofić, located in Bascarsija has a great selection. Have a look at the Zlatar Sofić Facebook page here. (this whole street has jewellers on it)

& More Shops

OVA

More of a brand than a store, OVA combines modern design and traditional Bosnian handicrafts, supporting the economic empowerment of women and the preservation of traditional skills at the same time. Visit the OVA website here.

Buybook

If you want to buy a book in English, this is likely the only place you'll have a decent(ish) selection. Take a look at the Buybook website here.

LisicaLisica Showroom

A craft store offering products made from copper and brass, following their family tradition since 1960, but with a more contemporary edge. Take a look at the LisicaLisica Showroom Facebook page here.

Coppersmiths

If you want to purchase some traditional crafts made from copper, such as the old coffee pots, then you should head to Kazandžiluk street and Bascarsija more broadly and just take a walk around - there are many shops selling these items.

DM

If you forgot sun lotion, condoms, sanitary pads, moisturizer, nappies, toothpast, or anything of a similar nature, this is the best place for you to go. It's a large chain and there are many located across Sarajevo and the country.

Supermarkets

The three biggest supermarkets are Bingo, Mercator, and Konzum. You'll find them dotted all over the place. The nicest one is the Bingo located in the basement of the Alta shopping mall.

Shopping Malls

There are several shopping malls in Sarajevo. The three largest and most modern are Sarajevo City Centre, BBI, and Alta shopping mall.
